STI Testing Services – Confidential, Professional Care

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) — also known as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) — are very common. Many people will have one at some point in their lives. Often, there are no visible signs or symptoms, which means the only way to know for sure is through a reliable STI test at a trusted sexual health clinic.

Common Questions about STI Testing Services

Early detection means early treatment. Left untreated, some STIs can cause serious health problems — but most are easily treated when found early.

If you are sexually active, we recommend regular screening. Your healthcare provider can guide you based on your situation.

Do STIs always have symptoms?

No. Many STIs show no symptoms at all, which is why regular screening is so important.

What happens during the test?

Tests are simple, quick, and confidential. Depending on the STI, you may need a urine sample, a swab, or a blood test.

What if my test is positive?

Don’t worry, most STIs are treatable. Our trained staff will provide treatment, follow-up care, and support to protect your health and that of your partners.

How can I protect myself from STIs?

Using condoms consistently reduces your risk. Regular testing, open conversations with partners, and seeking care quickly if you’re worried are also key steps.

What are available modern contraceptive methods?

There are currently four categories of modern contraceptive methods that the government of Malawi through Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation permits to issue to all people of reproductive age (10-25+ years). These are Short Acting Contraception like condoms, oral or pills, and injectables; Long Acting and Reversible Contraception like loop and implants; Permanent Contraception like vasectomy and bilateral tubal ligation; and Natural Contraception like beads method.

What is ideal age for contraception?

There is no specific age recommended to use contraception. Contraception is meant for all people of reproductive age (10-25+ years).

Can I use more than one family planning method?

YES! Dual protection from unintended pregnancy as well as venereal infections can be achieved by using other pregnancy prevention contraceptives combined with male and female condoms.

What is emergency contraception?

These are pills that are taken either before sex or after sex to avoid unintended pregnancy. The pills are supposed to be taken within 72 hours after sex. If fertilization has already taken place, the method does not work. These pills have upper help to girls and women who face sexual gender based violence.
