Benefits of HIV/AIDS & STI Services

Knowing your HIV status is an empowering choice — for your health, your future, and your loved ones. Regular testing means you can access early treatment, protect your partners, and live a full, healthy life.

If you are sexually active, we recommend regular screening. Your healthcare provider can guide you based on your situation.

What is HIV testing and counselling?

HIV testing and counselling helps you learn your HIV status in a private, supportive setting. You’ll meet with a trained health provider who explains the test, answers your questions, and offers guidance no matter what your result is.

What are the early symptoms of HIV?

Some people may experience mild flu-like symptoms within 2–4 weeks after infection — such as fever, sore throat, or fatigue — but many have no symptoms at all. The only way to know for sure is to get tested.

How soon can HIV be detected by a blood test?

Most HIV tests can detect the virus 2–4 weeks after exposure. If you think you’ve been exposed recently, visit our clinic for guidance on PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) — emergency medication that can help prevent HIV if started within 72 hours.

Do STIs always have symptoms?

No. Many STIs show no symptoms at all, which is why regular screening is so important. Using condoms consistently reduces your risk. Regular testing, open conversations with partners, and seeking care quickly if you’re worried are also key steps.
