What happens during an antenatal visit?

Common antenatal services questions

How often should I go for antenatal visits?

Your doctor or midwife will create a personalised schedule. In most cases, antenatal visits are every 4–6 weeks at the start, then more frequently as your pregnancy progresses.

Can my partner come to appointments?

Absolutely. Partner involvement in antenatal care is encouraged. Partners are welcome at all appointments, especially ultrasounds and birth planning sessions.

What should I do if I have concerns between appointments?

Don’t wait until your next scheduled visit. Contact your clinic anytime with pregnancy concerns or to book an extra antenatal check-up

When should I start antenatal care?

You should begin antenatal visits as soon as you know you’re pregnant — ideally by 8–10 weeks. Early care is the best way to protect both your health and your baby’s health.
