{"id":3316,"date":"2020-11-19T15:51:11","date_gmt":"2020-11-19T12:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rhu.or.ug\/?p=1945"},"modified":"2026-02-12T13:32:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T13:32:22","slug":"major-win-hoima-district-gazzets-19th-november-as-mens-day","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/dev.qrolic.com\/rhu-block-theme\/news\/major-win-hoima-district-gazzets-19th-november-as-mens-day\/","title":{"rendered":"MAJOR WIN: HOIMA DISTRICT GAZZETS 19TH NOVEMBER AS MEN\u2019S DAY"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HOIMA DISTRICT GAZZETS 19TH NOVEMBER AS MEN\u2019S DAY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoima has become the first district in Uganda to set aside a special day to celebrate MEN.&nbsp; The motion was moved in the council sitting yesterday, approved and confirmed today during the third (3<sup>rd <\/sup>) Men\u2019s day celebration in Hoima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The council will every year plan and set aside a special budget to celebrate the Men\u2019s day. The motion was officially submitted by the Hon. Bermandette Plan, the secretary social Services -Hoima district and was unanimously seconded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The day will be celebrated every year to;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recognise and promote man\u2019s involvement in achieving gender equality and SRHR<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote positive health seeking behaviour among men<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give a chance to discuss issues affecting men<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage gender equality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A day to put a focus to discrimination<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.qrolic.com\/rhu-block-theme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/5-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1948\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis achievement is important because men are key players in attaining gender equality\u201d Said Nancy Apio, the Gender coordinator. &nbsp;\u201cIt is not just a women\u2019s conversation and it helps men to attain positive masculinity and break the male dominance and associated violence\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RHU\u2019s Contribution:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">RHU has been mobilising men in communities to become role models and the same champions later pushed to have this day gazetted.
