Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections passed from one person to another through sexual contact, and in some cases through blood or from mother to child during birth. Early detection means early treatment. Left untreated, some STIs can cause serious health problems \u2014 but most are easily treated when found early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is HIV testing and counselling?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

HIV testing and counselling helps you learn your HIV status in a private, supportive setting. You\u2019ll meet with a trained health provider who explains the test, answers your questions, and offers guidance no matter what your result is.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What are the early symptoms of HIV?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Some people may experience mild flu-like symptoms within 2\u20134 weeks after infection \u2014 such as fever, sore throat, or fatigue \u2014 but many have no symptoms at all<\/strong>. The only way to know for sure is to get tested.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How soon can HIV be detected by a blood test?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Most HIV tests can detect the virus 2\u20134 weeks after exposure<\/strong>. If you think you\u2019ve been exposed recently, visit our clinic for guidance on PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis)<\/strong> \u2014 emergency medication that can help prevent HIV if started within 72 hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Do STIs always have symptoms?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

No. Many STIs show no symptoms at all, which is why regular screening is so important. Using condoms consistently reduces your risk. Regular testing, open conversations with partners, and seeking care quickly if you\u2019re worried are also key steps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
