On the contrary, effective IPC reduces hospital-acquired infections by at least 30% (WHO 2016). Therefore the Emergency\u00a0COVID-19 wash response is set to enforce\u00a0the project between April-July 2020\u00a0in all public gathering areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Challenge: Breaking the Chain of Infection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project was designed to address the risks associated with poor hygiene infrastructure, which often lead to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs):<\/strong> Transmission of diseases within health facilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community Spillovers:<\/strong> The spread of pathogens from medical centers back into local communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Antimicrobial Resistance:<\/strong> Increased reliance on antibiotics due to preventable outbreaks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Emergency Covid-19 WASH Response was a targeted, short-term intervention implemented between April and July 2020.
